The Artist!
A Look into the Mind of the Maker
When I first began considering what job I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life, I always thought of becoming a doctor because my mom would get sick often, and I wanted to help cure her. However, later in high school, I realized that being a doctor involved much more than I initially thought, and I knew it wasn’t the right path for me.
I was searching for a job that would allow me to incorporate my various interests, such as drawing, painting, photography, and digital media. As I delved deeper, I discovered the field of graphic design. I immediately knew that this was the perfect fit for me, as it combined all of my interests into one career path.
My Experience
At the start of my education, I was worried that I had made the wrong choice, like many other college students, in trying to find a major that interested me. However, once I started taking classes in my major, I realized that I loved it. I enjoy the creative process and the exchange of ideas with other designers and clients.
After high school, I spent my first two years of education at Greenville Technical College, where I earned an Associate in Arts, a Graphic Design Certificate, and a Web Design Certificate. I am very thankful to all the teachers who helped me develop, gain confidence in my work, and strive to improve every day. I also want to give a shout-out to Shane Howell, who is a genius. I am now transferring to Lander University for the fall of 2024 to complete my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design.
What I hope to Achieve
In the coming years, I hope to learn new skills and stay updated with the latest trends in my field. I am eager to secure an internship that will allow me to immerse myself in the industry environment and gain valuable experience. My goal is to continually improve as a designer, and I have always enjoyed using visual art to connect with communities. Having the opportunity to do this daily brings me great joy.
